Perodua leads Malaysian automotive market as registrations grow in July 2026
Malaysia's automotive market grew by 9.7% in July 2026, with total new vehicle registrations reaching 80,030 units, up from 72,943 in June.
Perodua maintained its market leadership, registering 31,842 units in July, a 15.7% increase from the previous month. Proton followed in second place with 17,018 units, representing a 10.2% monthly increase. Toyota secured third place, posting its best performance of the year with 11,822 units registered.
Chinese automotive brands continue to increase their presence in the market. Omoda | Jaecoo remains the top-selling Chinese brand in Malaysia with 1,309 units registered in July. Competition among Chinese manufacturers is intensifying, with BYD ranking sixth at 1,226 units and Jetour in seventh at 1,216 units, separated by only four units.
