Peronism faces internal tension as Aníbal Fernández criticizes La Cámpora

Internal tensions within Argentine Peronism have intensified following public criticisms from former Chief of Cabinet Aníbal Fernández and clashes between La Cámpora and media figures.

Fernández expressed dissatisfaction with the political direction of La Cámpora, stating, “La Cámpora le hizo mal al peronismo” (La Cámpora did harm to Peronism). He argued that political leadership should not be imposed and noted that his differences with Máximo Kirchner are not personal, though he believes the organization's actions do not align with his vision of Peronism. Fernández also alluded to potential leadership figures for future elections, including Axel Kicillof and Sergio Massa, while praising an unnamed potential candidate of Cristina Kirchner as a “brilliant president.”

Simultaneously, political friction has escalated on social media. Following journalistic critiques regarding the strategic purpose of Cristina Kirchner’s defense before the UN Human Rights Committee, members of La Cámpora, such as Deputy Paula Penacca, engaged in public disputes with journalists from El Destape. The conflict centered on disagreements over political strategy and the treatment of party leaders like Governor Axel Kicillof.
