Peronist factions organize to build political opposition in Argentina
Various factions of Peronism are organizing to build a political alternative to the current national government led by Javier Milei. During a plenary meeting in Azul, members of the Peronismo por la Provincia group—an extension of a movement founded by Víctor Santa María—discussed the economic hardships facing workers and expressed a desire to form a broad opposition. The group indicated that their leadership remains aligned with Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
Simultaneously, the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF) is working to strengthen its federal presence. Mauricio Suárez, a representative of FETRAES, stated that the movement seeks to restore representation to the electorate by building projects from local bases rather than through top-down decisions. Suárez identified Axel Kicillof, the Governor of Buenos Aires, as a key figure for this potential political alternative. The movement aims to convene a broad front of progressive forces to address the socioeconomic consequences of the current administration's model.
