Přerov plans demolition of former Strojař hotel for new housing
In Přerov, the former Strojař hotel remains a significant point of local contention. After the military vacated the building in 2013, the city purchased the property for 42.5 million CZK to prevent it from becoming a social hostel.
Despite various proposals ranging from senior housing to intergenerational apartments, officials eventually decided to demolish the structure to make way for two modern residential buildings containing 82 apartments. The demolition, originally scheduled for this year, has been delayed due to the technical complexity of the process.
Other areas of concern in the city include the dilapidated state of the railway station forecourt and the declining condition of the local Pasáž.
