Perpetual reports record Corporate Trust assets amid asset management outflows

Perpetual Ltd reported mixed results for the first quarter of FY27, characterized by record growth in its Corporate Trust division alongside significant outflows in its asset management arm.

Corporate Trust Funds Under Administration (FUA) reached a record A$1.4 trillion, a 2.8% increase for the quarter. This growth was bolstered by Debt Market Services, which rose to A$773.5 billion due to new issuances and the onboarding of a major global bank. Additionally, Digital and Markets assets under administration grew by 9.5% to A$699.2 billion, aided by the Interfi Systems acquisition.

Conversely, asset management assets under management (AUM) fell 5.5% to A$212 billion, driven by net outflows of A$9.6 billion. These outflows were primarily concentrated in US and global equity strategies, specifically within Barrow Hanley. Despite these losses, Perpetual noted momentum in emerging markets and global fixed income strategies. Wealth Management FUA remained stable at A$22.1 billion as the company progresses with the sale of the unit to Bain Capital, which is targeted for completion in the final quarter of 2026.
