Perplexity launches Portable Computer for Windows on NVIDIA RTX GPUs

Perplexity has launched Portable Computer for Windows, a local AI agent platform powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX and RTX PRO GPUs. This release expands the service from its previous availability on Linux and NVIDIA DGX Spark systems.

Portable Computer functions as a local version of the Perplexity Computer agent, capable of planning and executing multi-step tasks such as analyzing data, managing recurring workflows, and reviewing files. By running locally, the system enhances privacy by keeping sensitive information on the device and avoids consuming cloud credits for completed tasks. The platform utilizes a hybrid approach, where the agent can request user permission to escalate complex reasoning or web-based research tasks to cloud-based models.

To run the software, users require an NVIDIA GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM. The application includes optimized models like Qwen 3.8 27B and PPLX 27B. It also features connectors for various productivity tools, including Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, and GitHub, allowing the agent to interact with existing digital workflows.
