Perris, California crash kills 8-year-old girl

An 8-year-old girl, identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau as Camila Leon of Perris, was killed following a fiery two-vehicle collision on Saturday evening. The crash occurred near the intersection of Ramona Expressway and East Rider Street at approximately 5:40 p.m.

Emergency responders from Cal Fire and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department arrived to find two wrecked vehicles, one of which was fully engulfed in flames. A white Lexus was among the vehicles involved. A total of six people were hospitalized; while Camila Leon succumbed to her injuries, another juvenile passenger remained in critical condition as of Monday. One adult was hospitalized in stable condition, and the remaining victims were treated and released.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Perris station Traffic Reconstruction Team is leading the ongoing investigation.
