Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia elects new leadership and confirms HPN 2027 role

Rony Yuwono has been elected as the chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for the Semarang Regency for the 2026-2029 period. During the regional conference, Yuwono secured six out of ten votes, defeating Abdul Muiz. Yuwono stated his commitment to building a more solid organization by embracing all members and focusing on professional development.

Separately, PWI Central Chairman Akhmad Munir confirmed that the organization will remain the primary responsible party for the 2027 National Press Day (HPN) in Lampung. Despite discussions regarding changes to the governance of the event and proposals from other constituents to take over management, PWI maintains that it holds the legal and historical mandate for the celebration. PWI has submitted a formal legal opinion to the Press Council to clarify its role, emphasizing that the date of HPN is tied to the founding of PWI in 1946.
