Football League Organization defends Persepolis match postponement

The Iranian Football League Organization has responded to a formal protest from Persepolis FC regarding the postponement of their scheduled match against Kheybar Khorramabad. Persepolis argued that the decision lacked a legal basis and questioned the consistency of match scheduling, noting that they had prepared for the original date and did not request a delay.

The League Organization defended its decision, citing Articles 3 and 20 of the competition regulations. These rules grant the organization the authority to postpone matches when deemed necessary for the interest of the competition or upon written instruction from the Football Federation. The organization emphasized that exercising this authority does not constitute creating new rules but is a standard application of existing regulations.

Kheybar Khorramabad's head coach, Fraz Kamalvand, supported the postponement, explaining that the request was made due to the absence of key players, including defender Masoud Mohbi, who were called up to national youth and hope squads. Kamalvand stated that the decision was a logical response to ensure fairness, as the team could not compete effectively without its primary defensive components.
