Bandung police officers injured in violent demonstration attacks

A demonstration in Bandung on October 20, 2026, escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to numerous police officers. Reports indicate that between 11 and 16 personnel from the Bandung Police (Polrestabes Bandung) sustained injuries ranging from light to severe, including lacerations and dislocations, following attacks by unidentified groups.

The incidents occurred at several locations, including the intersection of Jalan Ir. H. Djuanda and Jalan Sulanjana (Dago). Police vehicles, specifically Dalmas trucks, were targeted with stones, firecrackers, and Molotov cocktails during shift changes. Additionally, vandalism was reported, including the destruction of a 'Free Nutritious Meal' (MBG) vehicle and graffiti on public facilities.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan expressed deep concern over the violence and announced a two-day period of heightened vigilance to maintain security and order. While the attacks coincided with demonstrations marking two years of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration, authorities stated they are still investigating whether the attackers were part of the organized protest groups.
