Persib Bandung signs Sandy Walsh and striker Balsa Sekulic as Indonesian football transfer buzz grows

Defender Sandy Walsh, a regular for the Indonesia national team, completed his move to Persib Bandung for the 2026/27 season. The transfer was first discussed three years ago by coach Bojan Hodak and was finalized this summer. Walsh chose the number 6 jersey, saying “I usually wear number 5, my wife number 1, so 5 plus 1 makes 6,” and stresses that his priority is helping the club rather than the shirt number.

Persib also announced the signing of Montenegrin striker Balsa Sekulic. Sekulic scored 15 goals in 32 matches for Mornar Bar last season and has five caps for Montenegro. Coach Igor Tolić said the striker was monitored for his ability to hold up the ball, turn quickly and finish chances, and will replace departing forward Andrew Jung.

Supporters of the Indonesia national team continue to lobby Premier League defender Pascal Struijk, who has Indonesian heritage but has repeatedly declined naturalisation. Struijk said his focus remains on his club duties with Leeds United and his ambition to play for the Dutch senior team.

In Jakarta, Persija Jakarta, overseen by coach Shin Tae‑yong, has added defenders Denis Kolinger and Kerim Memija on two‑year contracts and is scouting additional foreign and local players ahead of the Super League 2026/27 season.
