Persija Jakarta looks ahead after Super League season ends, with player exits and coach search

Brazilian midfielder Van Basty Sousa reflected on Persija Jakarta's 2025‑2026 Super League campaign, praising the squad’s hard work, camaraderie and support from staff and fans. He noted the season’s challenges and expressed gratitude to teammates, coaches and supporters for helping the club finish the campaign.

As the season concluded, Persija announced the departure of several key players, joining other traditional Indonesian clubs such as Persib Bandung and Persebaya Surabaya in losing star performers. The club also confirmed it had part‑ed ways with head coach Mauricio Souza on 26 May 2026 after unmet targets. Former Johor Darul Tazim (JDT) boss Benjamin Mora, a Mexican‑born coach without a current club, emerged as a leading candidate to replace Souza.

Separately, Indonesian national‑team goalkeeper Emil Audero, on loan at Cremonese, received news from Italian media that his loan would not become permanent, leaving his future uncertain ahead of the FIFA Matchday in June 2026.
