Persija Jakarta postpones Thailand training camp to focus on President Cup 2026

Persija Jakarta has delayed its pre‑season training camp in Thailand. The club, coached by Shin Tae‑yong, moved the camp from the original 27 July‑16 August window to start on 10 August 2026. The change is intended to allow the senior squad to gather in Jakarta first and to field its strongest lineup in the President Cup Elite 2026, scheduled for 25 July‑6 August in Bandung and Surabaya.

Key reasons cited were that several core players – including Rizky Ridho, Jordi Amat, Dony Tri Pamungkas and Muhammad Rayhan Hannan – were still involved in national‑team training in Bali, and the club had not completed recruitment of foreign players, currently listing nine imports such as Denis Kolinger and Radovan Pankov. Club president Mohamad Prapanca said the decision was made after coordination with the coaching staff, emphasizing the need for squad cohesion before the overseas camp.

The adjustment also means Persija will no longer send its U‑20 Elite Pro Academy team to the Thailand pre‑season tournament, instead using the President Cup as part of its preparation for the 2026‑27 season.
