Persija Jakarta sets 2026 season with new coach and two home venues

Persija Jakarta confirmed its commitment to the President's Cup 2026 despite the tournament’s format still being unsettled. Club president Mohamad Prapanca announced the appointment of Korean coach Shin Tae‑yong for the 2026‑27 season and said the team will take part in the pre‑season competition, which is expected to feature eight clubs, including several foreign sides.

Ahead of the 2026/27 Super League, Persija registered two stadiums — Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) — as its home venues in the I League’s club‑licensing review. The dual‑venue plan mirrors the club’s recent practice of rotating home grounds due to scheduling and operational considerations. Only one other club, Dewa United, submitted multiple stadium options.

Both moves illustrate Persija’s preparation for a busy upcoming season, balancing pre‑season tournaments, a new coaching direction, and venue logistics.
