Persija Jakarta signs Bosnian midfielder Stjepan Loncar

Persija Jakarta announced the signing of 29‑year‑old Bosnian midfielder Stjepan Loncar from Croatian side NK Istra 1961 on a two‑year contract. Loncar brings experience from multiple European leagues, the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and the UEFA Conference League, as well as 11 senior caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Club president Mohamad Prapanca said, "Stjepan is a player we believe can add quality and enrich our midfield options. His experience in European competitions is very valuable."

Coach Shin Tae‑yong, who took charge of Persija this season, outlined his preseason philosophy, stressing that physical fitness comes before tactical work. He told reporters, "The most fundamental thing is physical fitness. After the players are physically ready, we will work on tactics." The first training session was held on 14 July at Persija Training Ground in Depok, with several new recruits joining the drill. Shin expressed satisfaction with the squad’s initial condition and highlighted the step‑by‑step approach to building stamina and team cohesion.
