Persija Jakarta terminates coach Mauricio Souza's contract after missed targets

Persija Jakarta announced it will not extend the contract of Brazilian coach Mauricio Souza, citing the team's failure to meet agreed performance targets. The decision, made after the 2025/2026 BRI Super League season in which Persija finished third with 71 points, also includes the departure of Souza's coaching staff.

While the club confirmed the separation, Souza indicated he is preparing a new strategic plan for the team and awaiting a final decision from management. Persija said it is already in talks to appoint a new head coach to lead the club in the 2026/2027 season.
