Persol Workswitch Consulting study links learning engagement to higher effectiveness

Persol Workswitch Consulting conducted a survey of 5,000 employees regarding the relationship between the perceived “fun” or engagement level of corporate learning and its effectiveness. The study found that approximately 90% of participants who found their learning experiences engaging reported high levels of efficiency in understanding and memory, a strong intention to continue learning, and a desire to apply the knowledge to their practical work.

In contrast, fewer than 30% of those who found learning experiences uninteresting reported positive outcomes in these same categories. Key drivers of engagement included the connection between learning and actual work tasks, the discovery of new insights, and opportunities for active participation. Conversely, monotony, lack of engagement, and excessive familiarity with known content were identified as primary factors contributing to disinterest.
