Personal AI developments focus on on-device processing and privacy
Memories.ai has launched Luci, a personal AI assistant designed to operate across a user’s ecosystem of devices, including smartphones, PCs, and smart glasses. Built to run natively on hardware powered by Snapdragon platforms, Luci utilizes on-device processing to record, index, and retrieve information. By leveraging the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, the system performs deep image analysis and indexing locally, using the cloud primarily for contextual synchronization rather than raw data storage.
In a similar move toward localized intelligence, Panda has been introduced as a personal AI computer intended for home use. The device aims to provide AI capabilities—such as coding, research, and content creation—without relying on external data centers or subscription models. Panda is designed to process all data within a single home-based unit, emphasizing user privacy and ownership by keeping files and conversations off the cloud.
