Personal hygiene: Benefits of morning versus evening routines

Deciding whether to shower or wash hair in the morning or evening depends on individual lifestyle, hair type, and personal goals. There is no single correct answer, as both routines offer distinct advantages.

Morning routines can serve as a way to wake up the body and brain. A morning shower, particularly one involving cold water (below 15 degrees Celsius) for 30 seconds, may help stimulate the immune, circulatory, and digestive systems. For hair care, washing in the morning is beneficial for those with oily hair or thin hair that loses volume overnight, as it allows for immediate styling and a fresher appearance.

Evening routines are often preferred for relaxation and time management, allowing more time for other tasks in the morning. This timing may suit individuals with thick, dry, or curly hair, providing ample time for natural drying. However, it is advised not to sleep with completely wet hair, as damp strands are more susceptible to friction, breakage, and tangling during sleep.
