Personal stories of heritage and hobby in Polom and Ruhotina
Milan Dragutinović, a chiropractor from Polom near Vladičin Han, has transformed his backyard into an extensive plant nursery. Over the past 15 years, his hobby has evolved into a business where he grows and sells diverse species, including Indian bananas, goji berries, Chinese mulberry, and various cacti. He utilizes an 80-year-old well for irrigation and primarily fulfills orders for customers across Serbia, particularly around Belgrade and Jagodina.
In Ruhotina, folk singer Miloš Bojanić has decided to retain his family estate despite previous intentions to sell. Although Bojanić had once placed a ‘for sale’ sign on the property, family pressure and a desire to preserve his heritage for future generations led him to keep the land. While he has built a large new house on the estate, he did sell an auxiliary building previously used by his parents.
