Profiles of unexpected romantic connections in later life have drawn public interest. One story follows the relationship between the late actor Patrick Stewart and Sunny Ozell. The couple met in 2008 in New York when Ozell was working as a waitress and Stewart was performing in Macbeth. Despite a 38-year age difference, the pair remained together for over a decade and had four children.

In another account, 89-year-old Ken Vanderslice found companionship with 79-year-old Maureen after both had experienced the loss of long-term spouses. The two met in a Texas senior living community in late 2025. Maureen described Ken as a gentleman, noting his habit of bringing her a white rose every Tuesday.
