Personalized cancer immunotherapy sees growth in precision oncology

The field of personalized cancer immunotherapy is experiencing rapid growth, with the number of patients receiving immune-based treatments increasing by more than 300% globally over the last decade. In Germany, oncology programs are increasingly utilizing precision technology, including genetic testing and targeted biologics, to tailor treatments to an individual's unique biology. German cancer registries indicate that programs tailoring immune-based treatments to specific tumor profiles can achieve response rates between 40% and 60% for patients with certain mutations.

In the biopharmaceutical sector, new technological platforms are being developed to support the advancement of various immunotherapies, such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). The Promega HiBiT Target Cell Killing (TCK) platform is one such bioluminescent system designed to measure cytotoxicity during therapeutic development. This platform allows researchers to verify mechanisms of action by measuring target cell death through a quantitative luminescent signal, supporting the assessment of multiple killing mechanisms including CAR-T cell-mediated killing and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity.
