The captain of the cargo ship Misje Verde remains in custody following a fatal collision with a recreational boat near Tjörn in Hakefjorden. The accident, which occurred on July 28, resulted in the deaths of a mother and her daughter, while a father and son survived with injuries.

Prosecutor James von Reis stated that radar data from the ship’s black box confirms the recreational boat was clearly visible on the radar well in advance. Both the captain and the pilot have reportedly admitted that the radar echoes were visible, but they failed to notice them in real time. Despite this, both individuals deny criminal charges.

The captain is suspected of causing death and causing bodily injury. The Göteborgs tingsrätt has extended the captain's detention due to risks of flight and potential collusion. An indictment is expected to be filed by August 28.
