Pertamina explores maritime partnerships in China and expands local community programs

PT Pertamina Marine Solutions (PMSol) is exploring international maritime business expansions in China. Facilitated by the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai, PMSol held meetings with five Chinese maritime companies: Zhejiang Weihai Crew Management, Seahero International Ship, Taihua Shipping Management, Hanson Holding, and Shanghai Yongyin Shipping Service. These discussions focus on crew management, manning, ship services, logistics, and maritime investment.

Joko Pramono, President Director of PMSol, stated that the initiative aims to capitalize on the rising demand for competent seafarers in China. The company intends to position Indonesian seafarers as strategic partners in the global shipping industry.

Separately, Pertamina Patra Niaga is conducting community development programs in Kampung Tua Terih, Batam. Through its 'Kampung Bahari Si Pelaut' initiative, the company provides support for local fishermen and women-led MSMEs. Recent interventions include the distribution of fish seedlings and assistance in aquaculture and mangrove rehabilitation. The program has reportedly increased the average income of participating members by approximately 40%.
