Pertamina integrates global LNG sources to bolster Indonesia energy security

PT Pertamina (Persero) is strengthening Indonesia's national energy security by developing a more flexible and integrated Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) portfolio. At the Gastech 2026 forum in Bangkok, the company highlighted its strategy to combine domestic supplies with international sources, including imports from Australia and the United States, to mitigate market volatility and geopolitical dynamics.

Energy economist Yayan Satyakti from Universitas Padjadjaran emphasized that improving the energy supply chain is critical to national security. He noted that energy security relies on four key indicators: availability, accessibility, affordability, and purchasing power. Satyakti warned that without efficient infrastructure and supply chain improvements, government policies such as the 'one price' initiative could increase the burden of state subsidies due to Indonesia's geographical challenges and existing infrastructure limitations.
