Pertamina launches conservation program for Talaud Lorikeet in Bitung

Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, through its Integrated Terminal in Bitung, has launched a conservation program to protect the Talaud Lorikeet (Eos histrio talautensis), an endemic bird species of North Sulawesi.

The initiative utilizes a dual approach consisting of environmental education and a breeding program. The educational component, titled ‘Storylab for Sampiri’, aims to foster awareness and understanding of the species among the public, particularly the younger generation, through storytelling.

Complementing the educational efforts, the breeding program is designed to support the population sustainability of the species. The program seeks to combine direct conservation actions with community involvement to ensure the long-term preservation of the bird's natural habitat and biodiversity in the region.
