Pertamina and Ministry of Cooperatives launch used cooking oil collection pilot

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives have launched a pilot project to collect used cooking oil (UCO) through the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) network. The initiative began in Banyumas, Central Java, with a target to collect 500,000 liters of UCO over a four-month period.

The collected oil will serve as a raw material for producing low-carbon energy products, specifically Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), also known as bioavtur, and Green Gasoline. Pertamina has designated the Cilacap refinery for initial processing, with plans to expand operations to the Balongan, Dumai, and Plaju refineries.

This program aims to strengthen the low-carbon energy supply chain while providing economic benefits to local cooperatives and communities. The pilot project involves four cooperative locations in Banyumas and is intended to serve as a national model for expanding UCO collection across Indonesia.
