Pertamina NRE and Kepri Government plan solar plant for Pulau Sembur

The Kepulauan Riau Provincial Government and Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (NRE) are discussing the development of a solar power plant (PLTS) on Pulau Sembur, located in Galang Baru, Batam.

Deputy Governor Nyanyang Haris Pratamura emphasized that the renewable energy project must provide direct benefits to the local community. He urged Pertamina NRE to ensure that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are well-targeted and that the project creates employment opportunities for residents near Pulau Sembur.

Currently, Pulau Sembur relies on fuel-based power plants due to limited electrical infrastructure. Pertamina NRE aims to introduce a cleaner and more efficient energy source. The company is currently coordinating technical requirements, spatial planning, licensing, and land rights to prepare for the construction phase.
