Pertamina Patra Niaga sanctions gas stations for subsidized fuel violations
Pertamina Patra Niaga has intensified its oversight of subsidized fuel (BBM) distribution across Indonesia to ensure it reaches eligible recipients. Through the ‘Subsidi Tepat’ program, the company has issued sanctions to numerous gas stations (SPBU) for various violations, including improper vehicle usage, repeated QR code transactions, and fuel distribution not meeting designated purposes.
In the South Sumatra region (Sumbagsel), 161 gas stations have faced sanctions between January and early September 2026, with Lampung recording the highest number of violations at 69 stations. In West Sumatra, 31 gas stations were sanctioned for similar irregularities. Additionally, in Subang, West Java, one station received a 90-day warning and a 30-day suspension of Biosolar supply following detected irregularities.
Separately, Pertamina clarified that a plan to require vehicle registration (STNK) for purchasing subsidized fuel was a local proposal in South Sumatra and not a national policy. The company has canceled the implementation of this requirement following public concern. Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and BPH Migas have inspected energy infrastructure, such as the Bau-Bau Fuel Terminal, to ensure reliable energy supply for Eastern Indonesia.
