Pertamina Patra Niaga maintains subsidized fuel prices through 2026
Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed that subsidized fuel prices, including Pertalite and Biosolar, will remain unchanged through the end of 2026, despite global oil price volatility and rupiah fluctuations. Non-subsidized fuel prices will continue to follow government-mandated formulas.
In South Sulawesi, particularly Makassar, fuel shortages and long queues have prompted significant interventions. The provincial government has implemented an odd-even license plate system for subsidized fuel access from September 13 to 20, 2026. To manage demand, Pertamina has designated 25 gas stations in Makassar to operate 24 hours a day and has added nozzles to several stations to accelerate service.
The fuel shortage has had broader social impacts; in Maros Regency, authorities implemented online learning for students and work-from-home policies for civil servants. Additionally, BPH Migas reported that national Pertalite consumption rose by 11 percent as consumers switched from more expensive non-subsidized fuels. Meanwhile, Indonesia continues its transition to B50 biodiesel, which has reached 95% coverage across the country.
