Pertamina urges citizens to protect subsidized fuel QR codes

PT Pertamina (Persero) has issued an advisory for users of the My Pertamina application to protect their subsidized fuel QR codes. The company urged citizens not to share these barcodes with others to prevent unauthorized use.

The warning follows reports from residents in Kendari who suspected their barcodes were being used by third parties at gas stations. Okky Aditya W, acting Area Manager for Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, stated that safeguarding this data can prevent misuse, particularly by individuals seeking to profit from subsidized fuel through unauthorized means.

To mitigate risks, Pertamina recommends that users reset and update their 'Subsidi Tepat' QR codes immediately after refueling with Pertalite. This process generates a new barcode, rendering any previously leaked data invalid. Local authorities in Kendari have also conducted inspections at gas stations to ensure operators do not serve vehicles where the barcode data does not match the owner.
