Perth CBD man attacked with golf club during morning coffee run

A man sustained serious head injuries after being struck with a golf club during an unprovoked attack on Pier Street in Perth’s central business district around 5:30 am on Tuesday. The victim was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital following the incident.

Witnesses and bystanders intervened by throwing chairs to repel the aggressor and detained the individual until police arrived. The accused has been charged with unlawful wounding.

The incident has heightened concerns among local business owners regarding safety in the city. While official reports indicate that arson, robbery, shoplifting, and assaults have decreased, property damage has nearly doubled over the last year. Perth Mayor Bruce Reynolds stated that the city is investing in enhanced lighting, nightly City Watch patrols, and a network of approximately 850 CCTV cameras to monitor the area.
