Peru accelerates AI, automation and digital reforms to boost business competitiveness

Mateu Batle, CEO and co‑founder of fintech firm Rextie, outlined five technology trends that he says will shape Peruvian companies in the second half of the year: autonomous AI agents, hyper‑automation with real‑time intelligence, embedded finance and treasury automation, predictive AI‑driven cybersecurity, and edge‑computing AI. He argues that adopting these tools will move firms from reactive digitisation to autonomous, intelligent operations, improving speed, efficiency and growth.

Separately, Pedro Chirinos, former head of legal and regulatory affairs at Comex Perú, urged the Peruvian state to adopt merit‑based hiring, deepen digital transformation and cut bureaucratic procedures. He highlighted the need for broader internet connectivity, especially in underserved communities, to modernise public services, attract investment and reduce corruption.

Both perspectives stress that technology and streamlined governance are essential for Peru’s economic development and competitiveness.
