Peru advances OECD accession process through legislative coordination

The Peruvian Congress and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are reviewing progress regarding Peru’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). During a workshop titled “The role of the Congress of the Republic on Peru’s path to the OECD,” officials discussed the legislative requirements necessary to meet the organization’s standards.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Eric Anderson noted that a delegation from the OECD’s Accession Coordination Unit is currently visiting the country to renew political and technical momentum. According to official reports, Peru has reached approximately 40% progress in the accession process, with seven of 23 evaluation committees and 13 of 25 working groups having formally approved their respective stages.
