MIDAGRI to open office for camelid producers in Puno

The Peruvian Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) will establish a new office in Macusani, Carabaya province, to provide direct services to small-scale producers of alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas.

Minister Marco Vinelli Ruiz announced the initiative during the XXXI FECASAM 2026. The move aims to bring agricultural sector services closer to producers in the region. In addition to the new office, MIDAGRI has provided agricultural machinery, including a 60 HP tractor, as well as rural property titles, livestock feed, and seeds to farmers in Puno. The ministry also confirmed ongoing projects to improve water access through the construction of small reservoirs and irrigation canals.
