Peru aims to boost rural youth opportunities through agricultural reform

Peru's Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) is working to improve conditions for rural youth to encourage them to remain in the agricultural sector and develop local entrepreneurship. During a high-level dialogue organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Minister Marco Vinelli outlined a strategy focused on four key pillars: access to water, technical assistance, market integration, and financing and innovation.

Vinelli emphasized that for young people to build lives in their home communities, the land must be supported by reliable water access, technical expertise, and financial resources to improve productivity and profitability. The initiative aims to address the challenges of rural migration by creating viable economic opportunities through modern agricultural practices and better market connections.
