Peru and Brazil report shifting tourism trends in 2026

Tourism data for 2026 shows a significant increase in travel between Peru and Brazil. Between January and July 2026, 118,008 Peruvian tourists visited Brazil, marking an 18.81% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by interest in ecotourism, nature, and adventure, with Rio de Janeiro seeing a 59.7% rise in arrivals and São Paulo remaining the top destination.

In contrast, Peru's incoming international tourism saw a slight decline. Between January and July, Peru received 1,956,084 foreign tourists, a 0.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. While Chile remains the largest source of visitors to Peru, the United States saw a 2.8% increase in arrivals. South American travelers accounted for 49.2% of all visitors to Peru.
