Peru and Chile expand audiovisual production appeal

Peru and Chile are strengthening their positions as premier destinations for international audiovisual productions by leveraging their diverse landscapes and institutional support.

In Peru, the ‘Film In Peru’ strategy, led by PromPerú, has assisted over 600 projects in the last six years. The country offers a wide range of settings, including the coast (Ballestas Islands, Paracas), the highlands (Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca), and the Amazon rainforest. Notable productions filmed in Peru include ‘Paddington in Peru’, ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’, and ‘Don’t Look Up’.

Chile is positioning itself through the Film Commission Chile, emphasizing its geographic diversity—from the Atacama Desert to Patagonia—which allows for varied visual storytelling within efficient logistical distances. To support international crews, Chile offers financial incentives such as the CORFO Audiovisual IFI, which provides reimbursements of up to 40% for eligible expenses. The Chilean strategy focuses on a collaborative ecosystem involving public and private sectors to facilitate all stages of filming.
