Peru and Chile launch multi‑hundred‑million electricity infrastructure projects

Peru's private investment promotion agency PROINVERSIÓN awarded four transmission projects to Engie Energía Perú, totaling US$339 million. The works will strengthen the grid in Piura, Lambayeque, Junín and Ayacucho, extending reliable service to more than 1.6 million people and supporting renewable energy integration.

In Chile, the municipality of María Elena completed the "Construction of the Quillagua Electric Grid" project, investing roughly $500 million over a 73‑day period. The upgrade added low‑voltage distribution lines, LED street lighting and 275 new meters, improving safety, service continuity and enabling permanent power for the local water‑treatment plant, benefitting the rural community of Quillagua.
