Latin American nations and multilateral banks advance economic cooperation
Multilateral organizations and regional governments are advancing economic cooperation and strategic planning across Latin America.
In Peru, the CAF and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have reaffirmed their support for the country's economic policies through 2031. These institutions will provide financial and technical cooperation to support strategic investments in public security, transport, tourism, and natural gas infrastructure, while also assisting with climate mitigation efforts related to El Niño. Separately, the OECD has recommended that Peru revise tax benefits for large agro-exporters, suggesting they return to the standard 29.5% income tax rate.
In the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented the agenda for the 41st session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL). Scheduled for October 2026 in Santiago de los Caballeros, the meeting will bring together ministers, heads of state, and international organizations to discuss regional integration, digital transformation, and macroeconomic development.
Additionally, Paraguay and Peru are working to strengthen bilateral ties, focusing on technical training, agricultural exchange, and leveraging the Bioceanic logistics route to boost trade and investment.
