Peru announces fuel subsidy for mototaxi drivers in three regions

The Peruvian government has issued Emergency Decree No. 011-2026 to provide a temporary fuel subsidy for mototaxi drivers in the departments of Loreto, Ucayali, and Madre de Dios. The measure aims to mitigate the economic impact of rising international fuel prices on local families and ensure the continuity of public transportation services.

Under the new regulation, eligible drivers of L5 category vehicles will receive S/ 4.00 for every gallon of gasohol or gasoline purchased. This benefit is capped at a maximum of S/ 100.00 per month per driver and will be in effect for three months. To qualify, drivers must possess a valid National Plate Number, DNI, Class B driving license (category II-C), and valid SOAT or CAT insurance.

Beneficiaries must purchase fuel at establishments authorized by Osinergmin and provide electronic payment receipts. These receipts must be registered through a web platform managed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The subsidy is an extraordinary, temporary measure and does not constitute permanent compensation.
