Peru approves major road upgrades in Ancash‑Huánuco and La Libertad regions
The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) through its agency Provías Nacional granted approval to improve the Huari‑Huacaybamba road that links the Ancash and Huánuco regions. The S/1.8 million project will asphalt 10 km of the PE‑14A corridor, reinforce the pavement base, remove loose rocks, install anchor bolts, and add signage and guardrails, benefiting more than 20 000 residents by enhancing safety and transport efficiency.
In La Libertad, the regional government secured permits to begin construction of the Huanchaco bypass and further work on the Trujillo‑Huanchaco highway. The bypass, led by Consorcio Vías Huanchaco under entrepreneur Lucero Coca Condori, is funded with over S/121 million. Additionally, the Trujillo‑El Milagro access road is set for a stone‑laying ceremony in late June, with an investment exceeding S/167 million. These projects aim to strengthen regional connectivity and support local economic activity.
Both initiatives reflect the Peruvian government's push to upgrade key transport corridors, reduce travel risks, and stimulate development in the affected communities.
