Peru campaign activities marked by accident and fatal stabbing

Incidents involving political campaign activities have been reported in Peru. In Huaytará, mayoral candidate Lucho Neira was involved in a vehicle rollover while traveling through Andean districts for campaign activities. According to a statement from his team, no occupants sustained serious injuries, and the incident resulted only in material damage to the vehicle.

In San Jerónimo, a 28-year-old man, Emerson León Huamaní, died following a fight during a political campaign closing event. The victim was reportedly attacked with a knife during a confrontation between two groups in the Plaza de Armas. León Huamaní was transported to a health center with a severe thoracic trauma but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police and the Public Ministry are investigating the circumstances of the attack.
