Peru Congress approves S/11,000 worker bonus as Guatemala's Bono 14 due in July

The Peruvian Congress has agreed to a uniform bonus of S/11,000 for each of its employees, covering all ranks from assistants to specialists. This payment marks the third installment of the same amount, bringing total extra benefits to roughly six tax units (UIT). Officials have not provided a clear public rationale for the disbursement, which comes amid broader public‑sector budget constraints.

In Guatemala, the legally mandated annual "Bono 14" – equal to one month's salary – must be paid to all formal‑sector workers during the first half of July. The law requires full‑time employees with uninterrupted service from July 1 of the previous year to receive the full amount, with proportional payments for shorter tenures. Non‑payment can be reported to the Ministry of Labor for inspection and possible sanctions.
