Peru construction workers to observe holiday on October 26, 2026
The Federation of Civil Construction Workers of Peru (FTCCP) has announced that the Civil Construction Workers' Day, observed on October 25, will be moved to Monday, October 26, 2026. This adjustment occurs because the official date falls on a Sunday, and under Legislative Decree No. 713, the paid union holiday is transferred to the following Monday.
The holiday, established by Law No. 24324, applies to workers under the special labor regime for civil construction. It serves to recognize the contributions of workers involved in developing national infrastructure, such as roads, housing, and hospitals.
Workers required to work on this holiday due to force majeure are entitled to triple pay: remuneration for the holiday, pay for the actual work performed under the construction regime, and a 100% surcharge on the daily wage. Additionally, the regime mandates specific bonuses, including 10% of the Unified Construction Bonus (BUC) and 25% of the High Specialization Bonus (BAE), depending on the worker's category.
