Peru Council of Ministers evaluates 2026-2031 Government Policy

The Peruvian Council of Ministers met at the Government Palace to evaluate the proposed General Government Policy for 2026-2031. This policy focuses on reorganizing state structure, strengthening citizen security, and promoting economic reactivation.

Key agenda items included an update on the Multisectoral Plan for Intense Rains and Associated Hazards 2025-2027, as well as a social and economic diagnostic for vulnerable sectors. The Council also addressed several emergency declarations: extending the state of emergency for districts in Junín due to seismic activity, and proposing new states of emergency for districts in the VRAEM region (Satipo, La Convención, and La Mar) and Piura for security reasons.

Additionally, the Ministry of the Interior presented a bill to authorize the scrapping of decommissioned National Police of Peru vehicles. The Ministry of Defense proposed a legislative resolution to allow the entry of a foreign naval unit and military personnel into Peruvian territory.
