Peru e-commerce market reaches US$15.6 billion as mobile shopping dominates

E-commerce in Peru has reached significant scale, with 18.7 million people—approximately 55% of the population—making online purchases by the end of 2024. The market has reached a value of roughly US$15.6 billion, according to the Peruvian Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CAPECE).

Mobile devices have become the primary channel for digital transactions, accounting for 74% of all online purchases in the country, compared to 26% via desktop computers. This shift has increased the importance of marketplaces, which represent about one-third of the Peruvian digital market.

As digital sales grow, businesses face new operational challenges regarding payment management. Key issues include the speed of fund availability, the complexity of reconciling transactions across multiple channels, and maintaining real-time visibility over cash flow to manage suppliers and operational expenses.
