Peru energy sector: Camisea fund transfers S/ 256 million to regions

The Camisea Socioeconomic Development Fund (FOCAM) transferred over S/ 256 million to several Peruvian regions between January and July of this year. The funds, generated from natural gas production, were distributed among Ayacucho, Lima (provinces), Ica, Huancavelica, and Ucayali. These transfers support regional governments, municipalities, and national universities to promote sustainable development and scientific research.

In the hydrocarbon sector, PetroTal has announced plans to invest US$ 83.5 million for Lote 95 to relocate platforms and convert wells. Additionally, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) is managing the closure of various oil wells, with a target to complete the closure of the remaining 16 wells by March 2027. The government is also introducing the Igaspe, a new environmental management instrument designed to reduce the evaluation time for hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation studies from four years to three months.
