Peru evaluates supplementary credit for social subsidies and disaster prevention

The Peruvian Executive Branch is evaluating a supplementary credit bill to be presented to Congress to fund several priority areas. Key components of the proposal include increasing the bimonthly subsidy for the Pensión 65 program from S/ 350 to S/ 700, a measure that would benefit more than 700,000 elderly citizens living in extreme poverty.

Additional funding requested includes resources for El Niño phenomenon prevention, improved logistics for the National Police of Peru to combat organized crime, and the expansion of temporary employment programs through Llamkasun Perú. The plan also seeks to finance educational support, such as school kits for low-income families.

Prime Minister Luis Galarreta stated that the Ministry of Economy and Finance has evaluated the necessary resources following requests from various ministries. The project must still receive approval from the Council of Ministers before being formally submitted to Parliament.
