Peru executes 72 deportations following border controls in Tacna

Peruvian migration authorities have executed 72 deportation orders following extensive verification operations in the Tacna region. During 2026, the National Superintendency of Migrations conducted over 440 inspection operations along the southern border with Chile, one of the region's most active land crossings.

Official data indicates that approximately 5,000 foreigners were inspected during these operations, with the majority being citizens of Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela. The deportations were carried out by the National Police of Peru in accordance with national regulations.

Authorities have maintained a permanent presence at the Santa Rosa border complex, which connects to Chile's Chacalluta complex, and the Tripartite Border Control Post. Migration Superintendent Luis Fares Yunis Herrera stated that these measures aim to maintain firm and orderly migratory control to contribute to national security and internal order.
